Steatoda triangulosa C A Walckenaer, 1802 |
Taxonomical Classification: Animalia / Arthropoda / Arachnida / Araneae / Theridiidae |
Triangulate Cobweb Spider Maltese name not known |
Further Information: Named after the distinctive triangle patterns on its abdomen, these spiders hunt a variety of small arthropods by ensaring them in their webs. Though Steatoda bites are said to be medically significant, they are certainly not life-threatening (unless the victim is allergic to its venom) and the spider is not aggressive. |
