Further Information: Nymphs produce a mass of froth which is also called cuckoo spit. This froth or foam is produced by bubbling some plant sap using the anus for this process. There are a various species of froghoppers in Maltese Islands although they haven't been studied well yet. The froth protects the nymph from dehydration and predators or parasites. Adults of this species can be various colours, brown being the most common. |
