Celtis australis

Is this present anywhere in the true wild, or only planted? There are some specimens just by Lija cemetery (I almost wrote cementery, and still I would have been correct) and I also have a nice one planted from seed quite some years ago.

Used to think it was an exotic, but turns out to be a Med tree, it would be interesting to find one in the wild - that is if there ever were any.

I know plenty sites of C.a. in Malta but never not planted nor in the wild. Nice site is along the Triq L-Assedju of Marsamxett Harbour, where you also will find now (or soon) Taraxacum bitynicum
