Description, Habitat and Distribution
Habitat in Europe: Data will be available in the next update of this website.
Preferred habitat in Malta: Wasteground, ruderal areas near arable land, field margins, abandone fields and farms, parks, gardens, and many similar sites with enough soil
Botanical Description: Annual 15-80 cm; monoecious. Leaves 2-6(-10) cm, ovate, subcordate at base, serrate; petiole almost as long as the lamina; stipules connate in pairs. Racemes unisexual, the lower female, shorter than the petiole, the upper male, longer than the petiole, erecto-patent; flowers inserted unilaterally on an inflated axis.
Chromosome number: 2n=26
Distributional range: Mediterranean region and W. Europe, northwards to N. France Açores.
