Remarks :

This species was recorded from Malta and reported in old literature but has not been seen anymore in the wild for the last couple of decades. If you think that you have seen this species in the wild from Malta, please email here and provide all details possible and ideally images.


Description, Habitat and Distribution
Habitat in Europe: Wet places.
Preferred habitat in Malta: Data will be available in the next update of this website.
Botanical Description: Annual 10-40 cm. Basal leaves ovate or suborbicular, cordate, long-petiolate; upper leaves smaller, narrower, shortly petiolate or sessile; all entire or obscurely serrate; lower pedicels as long as subtending leaves. Flowers 5-9 mm in diameter, numerous; pedicel somewhat sulcate, appressed-pubescent. Sepals glabrous. Honey-leaves obovate, nearly twice as long as the sepals. Achenes c. 1.5 mm, compressed, minutely tuberculate; beak c. 1/10 as long as the achene.
Chromosome number: 2n=16
Distributional range: S. & W. Europe, northwards to England Gotland.
