Convolvulus: from the Latin word convolvere, meaning to twine around, referring to the twining habit of the stem of most plants in this genus. (Latin origin )

Encouraged to be planted in the wild that is in rural areas including ODZ.


Description, Habitat and Distribution
Habitat in Europe: Rocky places near the sea, calcicole
Preferred habitat in Malta: Rocky ground near the sea, sometimes up to 1 km inland
Botanical Description: Densely sericeous, erect or spreading, branched perennial 10-50 cm, partly woody in the lower parts. Leaves filiform to linear, attenuate at base, herbaceous and scarcely widened at the extreme base. Flowers in terminal, diffuse, heads; peduncles absent or very short, usually hidden. Sepals lanceolate to broadly ovate, cuspidate or acuminate. Corolla 15-25 mm, usually pink or whitish. Capsule shorter than calyx when ripe, pubescent.
Distributional range: S. Greece and Aegean region and some central mediterranean islands.
