Remarks :

A rather large tree forming numerous violet-blue flowers arranged in pyramidal racemes. Leaves may allude to a Mimosa type of tree (Mimosaceae), hence the epihet ,mimosifolia, but the species belongs to the Bignoniaceae family.

Preferred habitat in Malta: Ornamental tree often seen as a traffic embellishment and in parks and public gardens but sometimes found growing (not naturalised) in suitable natural habitats such as in abandoned fields, old gardens and valleys close to residential areas. However it is not invasive and rather short-lived when abandoned.
