Remarks :

Scilla clusii was reported to be persent in Malta and was even thought to be a subendemic to Malta and Sicily, but now this it has become a synonym of S. peruviana. Linnaeus coined the epithet Peruviana giving the impression that the plant is native to Peru, but however, that was some mistake because the species native range is in the Western Mediterranean region. with Spain and Portugal being its hotspot. Scilla peruviana is very rare in the wild in Malta. The pictures of this profile were not taken from Malta but from RBGE.
